TITLE: Demand Planner/Analyst

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO TITLE:   (Title)Manager, Sales & Operations Planning

The Demand Planner will be responsible for developing a consensus sales forecast through the use of a statistical modeling tool, trend analysis, seasonal indexing and market input. Through close collaboration with Sales and Retail Customers, this position will develop a monthly demand plan that drives the acquisition of inventory and delivers optimal customer service levels. The successful candidate will be energetic, results driven, analytical, foster a collaborative relationship with all stakeholders and have an understanding of the end to end supply chain.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop monthly sales forecasts at the item level using historical data, POS, statistical forecasting models and market trends for assigned customers and events
  • Utilize data to quickly recognize changes in item level sales trends to drive a proactive response in the supply chain to minimize obsolescence while maximizing customer service
  • Analyze and report on root causes for forecast error and adjust appropriately.
  • Lead effective monthly collaborative planning process with Sales partners to achieve consensus forecasts that support customer everyday demand and marketing activities
  • Identify and communicate gaps in the demand plan to the company budget and help to resolve or justify discrepancies
  • Coordinate implementation of forecasting and inventory planning activities for customer planograms, new items and promotional business with cross functional team
  • Collaborate directly with Customers to identify opportunities to increase sales through trend analysis and observations
  • Manage retailer data with customer portal, including item setup and maintenance
  • Provide timely updates to Supply Planners to ensure adequate supply of inventory in support of customer forecasts and urgently address supply issues
  • Review incoming customer orders as required to ensure optimal service levels and achieve improved forecast accuracy
  • Communicate to management any potential issues and challenges impacting service to customers

Education and Experience:

  • 2-5 years of forecasting, buying or supply planning experience in a highly seasonal, long lead time consumer packaged goods environment
  • Bachelor degree in Operations, Economics, Statistics, Supply Chain or related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work cross-functionally in a fast paced distribution environment and build trusting relationships internally and externally
  • Outstanding analytical skills with demonstrated success organizing, analyzing and accurately interpreting large amounts of data
  • Experience with major retailer systems/portals, highly preferred
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge of major forecasting systems/software
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Excel
